The UKSDM Jail Project is a transformative initiative launched under the Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission with the objective of equipping jail inmates with industry-relevant skills to facilitate their rehabilitation and reintegration into society. This project reflects a progressive approach to correctional reform, aiming to convert prisons into centers of learning, productivity, and hope.
Objective:
To empower inmates with employable skills, reduce recidivism, and promote socio-economic reintegration after release by providing vocational and life skills training within correctional facilities.
Key Features:
Customized training programs based on inmate interest, local industry needs, and employability potential.
Courses include tailoring, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, two-wheeler repair, bakery, candle making, agriculture, and handicrafts.
2. Certified Training Modules
All courses are aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and certified by relevant Sector Skill Councils.
Soft skills, life skills, and financial literacy training are provided alongside technical education.
Counseling sessions and motivational workshops are organized to foster mental wellness and personal growth.

Coordination with industries, NGOs, and government schemes for employment opportunities.
Linkage to entrepreneurship and self-employment schemes for those wishing to start small ventures.
